PEPONNE

French artist Christophe Tixier ( b. 1969), who goes by Peppone, creates Pop-inspired sculptures that incorporate imagery from comics and cartoons, such as Tintin, Spider-Man, and Snoopy. His resin and fibreglass works resemble toys, and the artist has stated that he draws on his own childhood to create his work. Peppone often remixes cultural and art historical references. He has created renderings of Snoopy dressed in Superman's spandex costume and covered in Piet Mondrian's primary colour grids. Hergé's Tintin is Peppone's greatest inspiration. The artist maintains a collection of comics and ephemera related to the famed Belgian character in Aix-en-Provence, France, where he lives and works.
